Parioli is an Italian bistro located in a simple little one-story beach house along Highway 101. This is the perfect place to enjoy upscale Mediterranean fare without the formality of a fine dining establishment.
You’ll be welcomed by a sunny front porch, prominent bar area, and stylish interior. The restaurant is co-owned and operated by two native Italian brothers whose food will draw you into another world. Chef Antonio admits there are many similarities between San Diego and southern Italy, and he utilizes seasonally fresh produce and ingredients in all his fabulous dishes.
I fell in love with his Caprese salad, made with locally grown heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and just the right touch of fresh basil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. For dinner, be sure to sample from the daily fish selections or one of the many traditional pasta dishes. Loyal patrons favor the homemade pappardelle or ravioli, prepared with the best available ingredients. The wine list is impressive, and there is also a large, interior courtyard area perfect for enjoying alfresco dining or reserving for a private party.
