Wizard Of Oz At Queenstown Public House

Queenstown Public House, a New Zealand-inspired restaurant located in a quaint historic Craftsman-styled house in San Diego’s Little Italy has re-created the land of Oz to playfully kick off spring, raise awareness and gather donations for the children at Monarch School. Monarch is a place where homeless students, K-12, are able to acquire the skills and tools they need to overcome the odds to not remain homeless as adults.

VIsitors—and of course Wizard of Oz fans—are invited to come dine, admire the fun and festive decorations, and most importantly, bring donations to help a wonderful cause for local children in need. Upon entering, visitors can walk up to Munchkin Land or follow the yellow brick road past the cornstalks and the Scarecrow, then around the patio and up to the forest with flying monkeys and a hidden Cowardly Lion. As visitors continue inside, they will discover the poppy flower fields growing upside down on the ceiling, and finally Emerald City.

“We look for any chance we can get to be able to give back to the community by partnering with amazing non-profit organizations such as Monarch School to help further promote their programs that help so many,” said Queenstown Public House partner, Darren Roach. “By all of us helping these kids, we are one step closer to solving the homeless problem in our community and communities across the country.”

Queenstown Public House is looking to collect books and toys as well as any of the supplies on Monarch’s donation wish list which you can find at queenstownpublichouse.com/monarchschool/. Additionally on Thursday, April 20 from 6:00 p.m. to close, Queenstown will host “Monarch Night” where 10 percent of the total sales at the restaurant from that night will be donated to the school.
